The Saskatchewan Industrial and Mining Suppliers Association (SIMSA) held its 2024 AGM on May 15th in Saskatoon. It saw some new Board members added, an amazing keynote speaker, and some big news from SIMSA.
The election results saw a few new faces added to SIMSA’s Board!
After the formal AGM portion of the meeting, SIMSA announced an exciting new benefit of membership – a comprehensive employee benefits plan available to all SIMSA member companies entitled “Protecture.” Plus, our first ever member perk.
Following this announcement, Karina Gistelinck BHP’s Asset President, Potash gave a keynote address. Karina gave a background of who she is and where she’s from, as well as her long-term vision for Saskatchewan. She also described a future with more local spending!

SIMSA is grateful to outgoing Board members Doug Barker, Kevin Chute, Lucinda Wood, and Tabetha Stirrett for service and support over the past years!
SIMSA’s employee benefits program – Protecture – was created to enable its members to compete with the larger resource companies for employees. Leveraging the over 30,000 employees within our membership, Protecture is a sector-competitive benefits packages, with the same rates whether you are above ground or below ground, behind a desk or a steering wheel.
Through extensive consultation, SIMSA and Sutton have partnered to provide packages that are easy to navigate, user-friendly, and intuitive. This includes ongoing support from Sutton advisers, guidance making informed decisions, and help outlining plan benefits.
You can read about the program HERE.
On June 6 there will be a free introductory session with breakfast, send 2 people. Register HERE.
Also, as a separate but as somewhat related item, was the roll-out of SIMSA’s first ever member perk – in the area of fitness/wellness – which can be paid for via Protecture’s optional health spending account (but you don’t need to be enrolled in Protecture for this perk). A fit staff avoids injuries, reduces absenteeism, improves productivity, and increases moral. As of today, all SIMSA member company employees have our first ever perk! See HERE or below.
