Saskatchewan’s Mining Supply Chain – integral to the success of our mining industry
Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Over 1000 delegates are expected to attend the 9th Annual Saskatchewan Mining Supply Chain Forum at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, April 4 & 5, 2017. The event is co-hosted by the Saskatchewan Mining Association, Saskatchewan Ministry of Economy and the Saskatchewan Industrial & Mining Suppliers Association.
The event highlights current mining operations and projects in Saskatchewan and the related supply chain opportunities for manufacturing and service businesses.
In addition to presentations, a sold-out Trade Show provides opportunities for over 200 suppliers and mining companies to network and do business.
According to the 2016 survey “Economic Impact Analysis of the Saskatchewan Mining Supply Chain” Saskatchewan-based suppliers captured 65% of mining company purchase dollars in 2014. Analysis of the survey results estimated that Saskatchewan mining companies purchased goods and services from Saskatchewan suppliers worth $1.7 billion in 2014, $1,8 billion in 2015, and are expected to purchase between $1.65 and $1.4 billion from 2016 – 2019. Purchases for operations are forecasted to continue on average at about $1 billion annually to 2019. Purchases from aboriginal-owned suppliers for mine operations and new capital mine projects is over $350M per year for the survey period. 196 mining supply companies and seven mining companies participated in the survey.
Forum presenting companies include: AREVA Resources Canada, Cameco Corporation, Fortune Minerals Ltd., Gensource Potash Corp., K+S Potash Canada, Mosaic, PotashCorp, SaskPower, Westmoreland Coal Company, Glacier Media Group, and University of Calgary, Des Nedhe Developments, Pinehouse Business North, FHQ Developments, EDC and STEP.
