Think of it as a SIMSA roundtable event with PotashCorp (like the ones we have had with Mosaic, BHP, Cameco, and PotashCorp; and are soon to have with K+S) plus a major Aboriginal inclusion event with the Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC), all in one.
Ticket sales are now closed for this event.
December 15th from 8:o0 am – 5:00 pm at the Saskatoon Inn in Saskatoon, SK
This event is open to SIMSA members, PotashCorp employees, and STC affiliates only!
This event is intended to be the first of a series involving SIMSA and other Saskatchewan Tribal Councils. As such, invitations have been sent to all Saskatchewan Tribal Chiefs to attend as observers.
This event brings together three key players for a spectacular business event towards “growing together” – The Saskatchewan Industrial and Mining Suppliers Association (SIMSA), The Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC), and PotashCorp (PCS).
Prior to the event, each of the of the 7 STC First Nations’ Economic Development persons (EDOs/EDCs) will complete a short business spreadsheet on land and business opportunities they are looking for (investments, partnerships, JVs, sectors, types, etc.). These will then be submitted to registered attendees prior to the event.
At the event, the above STC persons and their Chiefs will be identified in the first session and their display/tradeshow booth in the back of the room will be noted; this is followed by a networking session. As such, SIMSA members and PCS persons will know “which First Nation is looking for what kind of business” and be able to meet them.
Attending from PotashCorp will be Executives, procurement staff and others from PotashCorp.
Note, the PotashCorp staff, EDOs, and Chiefs will be assigned individual seats and individual tables around the room – SIMSA members will be able to choose their table upon arrival on a first come first serve basis.
The lunch keynote will be by PotashCorp’s Mark Fracchia (President of Potash) and Tim Herrod (VP of Procurement, Potash), and feature an update and answers to questions previously submitted by SIMSA and STC members.
Of special note will be the attendance of STC youth business group members, who will serve as ushers to assigned seats, then be seated at assigned tables (like the Chiefs, PCS persons, and EDOs), and operate their own trade show booths. All net revenues form the event will go towards funding their programming.
Note: This is the first of a series of “Business Forums” to be held between SIMSA and the various Saskatchewan Tribal Councils. For an event to occur, a Tribal Council must bring (1) a resource sector partner (such as PCS) as well as (2) a youth advocacy component, to (3) a time frame acceptable to SIMSA and the resource sector partner.
